The coolgrind System is composed, functionally and constructively of two parts:

  • 1. The grinding-wheel
  • 2. The grinding-wheel cover.

The grinding-wheel cover (2) is optional, but the best results will be obtained in conjunction with this part.

In order to attain the coolgrind effect – the right place and the correct amount of lubricating-cooling fluid must be applied; The grinding wheel itself is constructed of two parts:

  • 1a. The abrasive layer
  • 1b. The side-cover.

 

These two parts are functionally and constructively matched and are delivered as one unit.

When grinding with conventional grinding wheels higher thermal stress is caused and subsequently the abrasive layer can lead to unsatisfactory results at the flute and the cutting edge.

With coolgrind and its internal coolant supply the surface finish and the chipping of the cutting edge are improved substantially.

The best results were achieved in the combination of coolgrind grinding wheels together with the grinding fluid SintoGrind from oelheld.
